Electrical systems and complexes of transport means
Necessity and expediency of training the specialists in electrical systems and complexes of transport means is stipulated by the modern need in development not only of the sea and the river fleet of Ukraine, in particular, its technical equipment, but also of the shore-based units of sea and river fleet – shipbuilding and ship repairing plants, bases of technical servicing of fleet.At present automated control systems, means of computer facilities are used everywhere, but highly professional projecting and creation, maintenance and processing of modern ship’s electrical automated control systems are far beyond the skills even of those who have appropriate professional education in other directions of the said speciality. Means and technologies of creating automated control systems are improved at high rate, new approaches appear, that is why training of professionals in this specialty becomes more and more urgent.
The syllabus of higher education in the said speciality is designed for two levels of training the. There are two educational and qualification levels in the speciality Electrical Systems and Complexes of Transport Means: Bachelor and Specialist. The term to obtain a qualification of Bachelor on Navigation is 4 years in both day-time and correspondence departments. The qualification of specialist on Operation of Ship Propulsion Plants can be obtained for 18 months in day-time and for 20 months in correspondence departments.
The syllabus is agreed on its contents and levels:
- Level 1 – training of Bachelors – 8 terms + practical training and state qualification exam;
- Level 2 – additional course – 2 terms + qualification thesis.
The Bachelor is trained for the professional activities in the field of development, production, operation and repair of ship electrical machinery and apparatuses.
The Bachelor is assigned to work at:
- project-design and scientific-research organizations, engaged in development and creation of ship electrical machinery and apparatuses;
- sea and river ships, ship operating and port organizations, engaged in technical operation of ship electrical machinery and apparatuses;
- subdivisions of manufacturing enterprises and firms, engaged in technical operation of ship electrical machinery and apparatuses;
- subdivisions of manufacturing and ship repairing enterprises, specialized in repairing ship electrical machinery and apparatuses;
- sphere of commercial activities.
Bachelor works on initial positions: ship electrical engineer of the 2nd, 1st class, master in workshops, sections, subdivisions of enterprises, firms and stations of technical maintenance, and also manufacturing and repairing enterprises, firms and companies of electromechanical direction, designer in designing bureaus and project organizations; investigator in scientific-research institutes; manager in commercial departments of state and private organizations and firms.
Bachelor must execute his functions under the supervision of the specialist, and after gaining appropriate experience and practical skills – independently.
The 2nd level is associated with training of the specialist – electrical engineer in professional direction 0922 Electromechanics in speciality 7.092201 Electrical Systems and Complexes of Transport Means. The term of studying is 5.5 years. The Specialist is trained to work at scientific-research organizations, developing or operating ship electrical automated control systems. The Specialist must be trained for the engineering, research, designing, operating, technological activities in the branches of sea and river fleet, where highly efficient creation and utilization of up-to-date automated control systems must be ensured.
The Specialist can be engaged on initial positions: research engineer, electrical engineer, engineer operating of automated control systems (ACS), junior scientific worker on stipulated by nomenclature positions for the specialists with higher education. Accordingly the purpose of education in specialty “Electrical systems and complexes of transport means” is training of specialists, ready to cope with practical and scientific tasks in the sphere of sea and river fleet, where ship automated control systems and computing equipment are widely implemented and require to be constantly developed in order to improve the efficiency and economical growth of Ukraine on the whole.
