Dear friends,
The history
of glorious southern city Kherson since the times of its foundation is closely
related to shipbuilding and ship repair, formation of marine merchant port and
development of maritime education.
Water spaces
always attracted courageous, romantically disposed young people, but the
historygives evidence that to become a seaman only by these qualities is
impossible. Present state of merchant fleet requires deep professional
knowledge, skills and abilities that can be obtained only at the authoritative
maritime educational establishments.
Kherson
State Maritime Academy which was created on June 23, 2011 on the base of the higher
educational institution “Kherson State Maritime Institute” does not begin new
history. It is a successor of Kherson school of merchant seafaring founded long
ago in 1834 and heir of its respected status – the oldest maritime educational
institution in Ukraine.
Having
passed through eight reorganizations of its historical path, Kherson State Maritime
Academy is clearly oriented in marine specialists training on glorious
traditions of its predecessors. Engineering and teaching staff of the Academy
implements measures to maintain and increase the glory and international
prestige of the institution in the field of maritime education.
So, I have
the honor to represent Kherson State Maritime Academy – the successor of the
first educational institution in the history of maritime education in Ukraine.
